Food and Drink Alerts

East Nashville is one big family, and they came together during the flood to help pail water out of the Lipstick Lounge’s basement.

The Mayor of Lipstick Lounge (i.e. Robbie) sent out a request for everyone to support the bar by allowing the bar to do what it was born to do: entertain and get you drunk.  Tonight, Lipstick is running their normal, wonderful Wednesday night specials:

2-for-1 liquor (any brand) until 10PM!
2-for-1 beers all night longs!
AND Free hot dogs until they run out.

Karaoke starts at 9PM and love (opening) start at 6:30PM.

The full message from the Mayor is after the break, along with some pictures of loyal patrons helping them get water out.

Many of our favorite watering holes have been affected by this horrible flooding. I saw East Nashville rally around to help Lipstick Lounge get through the flood, and now another one needs our support.

As much as 8 feet of water filled Melrose Billiards, meaning that almost everything we love about the basement bar  was under water. The pool tables, shuffleboard, snooker, booze, ping pong tables.

The details as to how we can help aren’t clear yet, but loyal patrons have banned together to make the Facebook group, Save Melrose. Join and find out how and when to help.

Tell us if you know of any other restaurants or bars that are looking for volunteers.

Hey, everyone. Hope your basements are staying above water. Things are getting pretty nasty. Rather than an update on specials, I’m going to respect the request of the city and encourage you to stay in today. Check @nashvillest  and @visitmusiccity as well as other twitterers to find out up to date info on what’s happening. Also, if you want to watch crazy videos of the flood, go here.

This week, the lovely folks at Frothy Monkey are bringing some more options to the 12South Neighborhood, with their local, foodie take on the burger joint. Burger Up opens this Saturday, bringing a menu of burgers, salads, soups and appetizers made from as many locals ingredients as they could get their hands on, with their prized ingredient (local beef) coming straight from the Triple L Ranch in Franklin.

Once you see their menu, I doubt you’ll be able to hold in your excitement. I got a preview of th menu offerings last week, and I’m going to post some of my favorites after the break.

And don’t worry if you’re a vegetarian or don’t eat red meat, beef is far from your only option at Burger. Some of you might remember Frothy Monkey tweeting about their quinoa and black bean burger just last month. I didn’t get to taste it, but I’ve heard many rave reviews. Continue reading »
